Question

Turbo Tax is saying I have a Felony Conviction and do not qualify for American Opportunity Credit. I do not have any felony. Any ideas?

Revisit the Education Section and go through the interview until you get to that question so that you can correct it. 

 

The only way TurboTax knows that is from your answers in that interview. 

 

Please make sure you go through the ENTIRE Education Information interview.

Hi, Is this in the Federal or State section?  I do not see any questions related to felony conviction.  I absolutely do not have any convictions at all.

You will need to go back to where you entered your school expenses and go through the questions again and change your answer to the Felony question.

 

Follow these steps to get back to that section:

  1. Open or continue your return
  2. Search 1098-T and click the "Jump to 1098-T" link
