Question

What do I put on the allocate federal adjustments to income form? It says I need to allocate my income of $100, gives me three columns and says the TFA must equal $100

Do I just put $100 in the Total Federal Adjustments category? Do I put $100 in both the NYC and the TFA category? I moved to NYC in the beginning of August and have never lived in Yonkers.

You must have an adjustment to income on your federal return. It would show in schedule 1, part II on your federal tax return. You can view schedule 1 by using  these menu options in TurboTax:

  1. Tools
  2. Tax Tools (left side of the menu bar)
  3. View Tax Summary
  4. Preview my 1040 (left menu bar)

Once you determine what the $100 adjustment is for, then you can put it in the proper column based on where you lived when you earned it. So, if the $100 applies to the time from August to December, you would put 100 in the NYC column.
