When entering info for the 1098-T, how do I change the name of the student?

First, your son should be listed as a dependent on your return.

If he is not listed as a dependent you can't add his 1098-T. The person who claims the student will claim the Education credit.

Delete the 1098-T that is showing you as the student and add a new one.

1. Go to Federal Taxes,
2. Go to Deductions and Credits.
3. Scroll down to Education and click show more.
4. Scroll down to Expenses and Scholarships (Form 1098-T) and click Revisit.
5. Answer Yes for the question if you received a 1098-T.
6. On the following screen choose the student.

You cannot change the name of the student. All you can do is delete that student (and all their info) and then enter a nee student.

Go through the entire education interview until you reach a screen titled "Your Education Expenses Summary".  Click delete next to the student's name (you cannot change  it and you cannot save your entered info).  After you confirm your deletion, the next screen will allow you to add a student.
