When I enter my 1098-T form, TurboTax registers this as income but I think this is a mistake. I am a PhD student. Can I omit the 1098-T form from my tax filing?

You are not required to include form 1098-t unless the scholarship amount reported in box 5 is more than the tuition amount in box 1/2. If box 5 is higher than you must report the excess scholarship money as taxable income. If that is not the case, then follow the directions below to delete your 1098-t form:
Log in and open your return
Click Tax Tools from the left side of the screen
Select Tools from the drop-down menu.
On the next screen, click the Delete a form hyperlink
Click Delete next Form 1098-T and follow the onscreen instructions.
