My husband and I have three children in college that qualify for the AOTC. I am also taking classes to improve my job skills and received a 1098T. I entered all our financial information and then entered their 1098Ts and 1099Q. Each qualified for the AOTC. When I entered my 1098T into Turbo Tax, my refund was reduced by $2,500. Is this a glitch?

    A. No.

It sounds more like you deleted one of your students.  Go through the entire education interview until you reach a screen titled "Your Education Expenses Summary" and make sure they're all there.  Click edit on each student. On the next screen verify that the tuition amount is still correct.

I reviewed everything before I posted. My classes were accounting and I volunteer to do taxes at VITA. I think I will run this through TaxSlayer even though I am not fond of that platform.

Be sure to get to and complete the "Maximize my Education Tax Break" section.
