Where will payments and scholarships/grants show up if they were paid in 2019 but were for a 2018 semester?
My financial aid for the fall of 2018 was a mess. Both my grants and my payment for the remaining balance were paid in 2019. I am wondering if at this point this is just going to be a wash for me as far as receiving a tax benefit. Will it be reported on the 2019 1098-T form? If so, in boxes 1 and 5 or boxes 4 and 6? Will I be able to use the excess amount I paid toward an educational credit in either year?
