Question

Why? I am a law student. I do easy returns. Why is it telling me to upgrade because of lifetime learning credit. I do not qualify for that. It won't let me submit.

Did you enter your 1098-T? Do you have taxable scholarship income?  If you did, you can go back and delete the entries if you did not have scholarship income more than your education expenses. If you have taxable scholarship income, you would not be able to delete these entries.

 

What is the exact message you are getting when it is not letting you submit your return?

 

To delete a form that is causing you to upgrade, click the following:

 

 

  • Tax Tools
  • Tools
  • Delete a Form
  • Delete next to any supporting worksheets first
  • Delete the form that is not needed.
