Why is "box 1" on my 1098-E Student Loan Interest Statement labeled differently from what TurboTax asks?

TurboTax says box 1 is "interest paid", but the 1098-E I received says box 1 is "student loan interest received by lender".

The interest received by the lender is the amount that you as the student (or former student) paid to the lender.  So it is all the same thing. You paid it, the lender received it.
