Would my ford (college like) web courses count as being a student? it does give a certification

they are web courses and some of them i havent done yet require me to take them in a classroom, they give recognized certifications and teach the same things a college class would. but you can do them at any pace youd like, theres no requirement of getting them done day to day and its free to do

Probably not.  Online courses, while valuable are not necessarily qualified educational courses.  In general, the courses must be taken at an eligible educational institution, even if offered online. 

 

An eligible educational institution is a school offering higher education beyond high school. It is any college, university, trade school, or other post secondary educational institution eligible to participate in a student aid program run by the U.S. Department of Education.

 

If qualified, they should provide a 1098-T if requested.  If nit, it is most likely not deductible,
