Question

1040 form line 1 doesn't match input

The online calculations and use of my data seem to be correct but when I check the 1040 Form prior to submittal, the information on income is in incorrect boxes.  For example my Box 1 income does not match my input (or the summary prior to the 1040).  I'm not sure what is being sent to the IRS but the form as shown in PDF on my computer is wrong.

Yes, there are a few items that can appear on line 1 of Form 1040, other than box 1 wages from Form W-2. If you look at the 1040, you will see a short abbreviation on line to let you know what the item is.

    The abbreviations are as follows:

    • SCH -  Scholarships
    • FB - Fringe Benefits
    • HSH - Household Employee Income
    • PRI - Prisoner Earned Income
    • FEC- Foreign Earned Income
    • DCB - Dependent Care Benefits (Box 10 of W-2)
    • DFC - Disqualified Financial Contribution from Nonqualified plan (Box 11 of W-2)
