1040 preparation-where do I enter interest income without a 1099-int and a capital gain without a brokerage statement?

There is no 1099-IN for interest earned.

    In both cases, when you go to  that TurboTax section, choose "I'll type it in myself".

    you might not get a 1099-INT, but if you sold securities, you will definitely get a 1099-B. Some brokerages will not have released those documents until late February.
