After entering all of my 1095 A information in my TurboTax home and Business 2024 Edition, I am having trouble figuring out how I allocate the percentage as turbo tax asks. My adult daughter was on my Marketplace health insurance plan January through September. She got full time employment that provided her with her own health insurance starting October 1st through the end of the year. I contacted the marketplace and had her removed from my plan starting October 1st. She has received her own 1095 from her employer for those last 3 months of the year. And my 1095-a reflect the lower premium I paid for those last 3 months of the year without her on my plan. TurboTax ask me to allocate a percentage that I am claiming on my tax return. I am thinking that I should say 100% on my tax return and zero on hers, because she has her own 1095. I am not planning to claim her as a dependent on my tax return for the year. Therefore I did not enter her social security number in my TurboTax. TurboTax gives me an error message

Even though you are not claiming her as a dependent, you will still need to enter her social security number in the area after you enter the 1095-A and mark that you shared the policy with another taxpayer even if you are claiming 100% and she is claiming 0%.

She will also need to enter your 1095-A and mark that the policy is a shared policy and include your social security number on the form.

You claiming 100% is perfectly acceptable. You can claim any amount that you agree on, as long as the amounts equal 100%.

Turbo tax home and Business 2024

I understand your answer. I am going to

claim 100% of the premium percentage

and Advance payment of the PTC

percentage for my tax return and zero on

my daughter's.Do I need to enter something in the SLCSP box?

I keep getting an error message when I put

zero in the boxes that have her social

security number in it. Is there a certain

format the zero number has to be in ? Like

    0.0? -0? or 000? And if 1 put 100 % in the

boxes I don't get the error message but it

takes away most of my Federal refund

Which makes me think 1 am getting the 0%

and she is getting the 100% of the of the

    allocation.

It is also asking me to link it with my federal

schedule C? ls that something I should be

doing? Cuz I did try that route, but I don't

    have any W2 income as I am a 1099

contract employee only. And then I get a

error message saying that linking 1095a to

    a business is not supported.

Yes.  You will need to enter something in the SLSCP.  You would need to use this tool to find your SLCSP if it is not on your form.

If you link it to your Schedule C, any amount that was paid out of pocket will be given to you as a  self-employed health insurance deduction if you qualify.

Do you get to the screen asking which business it is associated with?  Be sure to select the business and the months of operation.  At which screen are you getting this error?
