I have entered my daughter’s 1098-T into my tax return. My daughter is a full time student and 19 years old, but it show as $0 on the “ Your 2021 Deductions & Credits” page. What is the reason? Please advise.

It could be a variety of reasons.

    1) Is box 5 larger than box 1?  If so, her scholarship income was greater than her tuition which would cause you not to get the education credits

    2) Did you claim her as a dependent on your return?  If not, it will not give you a credit for her expenses.

    3) Is your income too high to get the credit? Your income if Married filing joint would need to be under $160,000 or $80,000 if using another filing status

    4) Did you answer that she is enrolled at least half time and did not finish her first four years of higher education and that she is pursuing a degree or other credential?

If you are sure you qualify for the education credits, you should go back and double check your entries to see if you entered something the wrong way.
