I have a 1099 NEC. I have listed all the appropriate information for it. However, when filing state it is asking for information for a 1099 MISC. I do not have that form and I can't move forward. Please help.

If you had a 1099-MISC in the prior year, it would have been carried over to this year's return. You can delete this from your return.

To delete, please follow the instructions below:

  1. Open your return.
  2. Search for 1099-MISC with the magnifying glass tool at the top of the page.
  3. Click on the Jump to 1099-MISC link at the top of the search results.
  4. Delete any 1099-MISC entries with the trash can icon.

If there was no 1099-MISC on the summary screen, then make sure there was not an extra entry on your 1099-NEC summary screen.  For 2020, nonemployee compensation on the prior year Form 1099-MISC is now reported on Form 1099-NEC.

To delete, please follow the instructions below:

  1. Search for 1099-NEC with the magnifying glass tool at the top of the page.
  2. Click on the Jump to 1099-NEC link at the top of the search results.
  3. Delete any prior year 1099-NEC's entries with the trash can icon.
