1099-DIV: Imported Payer Name & TIN Different from Form

Hi,

I have a mutual fund account with a brokerage and Turbotax imported the monetary amounts correctly, but for the Payer Name it is the name of the mutual fund in the account rather than the Payer Name on the 1099-DIV. The TIN is also different than what is shown on the form. Should I change this to make it match what is on the form? Does it matter?

Thanks!

When importing directly from the brokerage, not all information transferred might be accurate. You should always review all entries to make sure everything matches. You can correct the Payer's name and TIN to match your form so that it also matches with information provided to the IRS.
