I got the 1099 form in the mail and it says my payments weren’t taxed and I had no idea how that happened but now it says if I file I owe over $800 for $19k in 2021 from pandemic unemployment. How did this happen??? Im obviously unemployed so how am I supposed to pay this?! I really needed some money back this tax season…

With all of the paperwork you fill out for unemployment, you had one that asked if you wanted to have taxes withheld.  If you didn't proactively agree to that, no taxes would be taken out.

If you can't pay your taxes right now you should:

    1. File your taxes by April 15

    2. Pay some of the tax you owe

    3. Call the IRS  Find a local IRS office

Different ways to apply for an IRS installment plan
