After entering one of the bank's interest with direct import, I wanted to add another institution manually (not listed in the direct import list), but the program would not let do that. I tried it several times, but no go, as if the option was not going through.

Enter interest income in the Search box locate in the upper right of the program screen. Click on Jump to interest income

On the screen Did you receive any interest income? Click on Yes

On the next screen click on Continue

On the screen Let's import your tax info Click on Change how I enter my form

On the screen How do you want to add your 1099‑INT? Click on Type it in myself

Don't attempt to enter anything in the bank search box.

Go to the bottom of the screen and select

1) Change how I enter my form

then the next page

2) Type it in myself
