1099-NEC Entry Issue. NOT SELF EMPLOYED!

I am employed as a care giver where my employer reports my income on a W-2. As part of Union benefits, my employee Union provides a HSA payment supplement amount in the form of a prepaid debit card that is being reported on a 1099-NEC. I am definitely not self employed, but when I try to enter the amount reported on the 1099-NEC, Turbo Tax Home and Business only allows me to report the income as Self Employed Earnings and wants my to set up a business.  There has to be another way. Can someone help me with an answer please?

You can enter it as other income. In the explanation, note that it is an HSA supplement reported on 1099-NEC. Please see this LINK for a further discussion.

Steps:

  • Wages & Income
  • I'll choose what I work on
  • Less Common Income select Start (or Update) for
  • Miscellaneous Income.
  • Other reportable income and you can enter your own description(s) and amount(s).
