1099 NEC not self employed

I received a 1099-NEC for cleaning condos over the summer, but I was not self employed. It was over $600 and i’m not sure if I need to file it. It keeps saying I have to file a section C for being self employed. I also did not meet the minimum taxable income for the year. I’m really not sure what to do. Do I still need to file my 1099 NEC, and if so, do I need to pay taxes on it if I did not make $12,550?

you may. the company you work for doing cleaning condos treated you as self-employed.  you need to file schedule c and a tax return but only if your net schedule c income is over $400. you will owe a small amount of self-employment tax.
