I have received 2 1099-R forms for 2024 from my TSP account.

The first 1099-R reflects total distributions with taxable amounts and covers 3 items:

1. My TSP RMD  2. Additional RMD for a transfer of funds into a GOLD IRA  3. Additional RMD to cover another IRA from Charles Schwab.  Question : How do I enter this 1009-R into Turbo Tax?

The second 1099-R reflects the transfer to my GOLD IRA. It has $0 taxable in Box 2a and code G in Box 7.  Do I also enter this 1099-R into TT as is?

To enter a Form 1099-R in Turbo Tax Online follow these instructions:

  1. Find the Retirement Plans and Social Security menu option in the Wages and Income section of TurboTax
  2. Start or Update IRA, 401(k), Pension Plan Withdrawals (1099-R)
  3. Choose Add (Another) 1099-R

You should enter the form as stated. For the RMD questions, indicate that the distribution was an RMD and you took the required minimum distribution for the year if that is true.

You do enter the second Form 1099-R as it is stated in TurboTax.
