On NYSLRS website - The Survivor’s Benefit Program provides a death benefit to the beneficiaries of eligible retired New York State employees. For most retirees, the amount is $3,000. I received a 1099-R for this. The 1099-R shows the payer as New York State & Local Survivors Benefit System not the New York State & Local Retirement System NYSLRS .  It is taxable by Fed gov't but is it NYS taxable?  Since it's a death benefit, should be marking  "Other Pensions of  New York State and Local Governments"?
