If you downloaded the software and was working on the return then you should be able to open the return on the desktop program and continue to the FILE tab where you MUST choose the mail in option ... only 2018 returns can be efiled now.

Did you download the .tax2017 file from online?  You need that one to open in the software.   If you did not file the first return then you do not Amend.  Did you get the program installed ok?

Assuming that you originally started the 2017 tax return using the online editions, have you downloaded the 2017 tax data file?  When the tax data file has been download and the TurboTax desktop software for 2017 has been started, click on the File menu at the top left of the program screen.  Then click on Open Tax Return.  Browse to the location where you downloaded the tax data file.  The 2017 tax data file will have a file extension of .tax2017

Once the 2017 return is opened then you can complete and file the tax return.  The 2017 return can only be printed and mailed, it cannot be e-filed.

To access your current or prior year online tax returns sign onto the TurboTax website with the userID you used to create the account - https://myturbotax.intuit.com/

Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and on the section Your tax returns & documents click on Show.  Click on the Year and Click on Download .tax file
