2018 MA Tax Refund Received 2019-2018 Filed MFJ and 2019 Single Due to Divorce

On the screen where you enter your 2018 Income and 2018 Itemized Deductions (in order to determine if your 2018 MA tax refund received in 2019 is taxable) do you enter the MFJ 2018 Income and Deductions or only the Single/Divorced 2018 Income and Deductions, since now filing my 2019 tax return as Single due to divorce finalized during 2019.  A Form 1099-G has been received from the State of Massachusetts.

Separate Question that Relates to Above-Ex-spouse has agreed that we will each report 50% of the amount on the Form 1099-G for the 2018 MA Tax Refund Received in 2019.  I would like to attach a Note to my 2019 tax return detailing that I'm only reporting 50% of the amount from the Form 1099-G, and that the remaining 50% will be reported on my ex-spouse's tax return.  How do I attach a Note to my tax return detailing this, and make sure that it gets e-filed as an attachment to my tax return?

You can enter half of the amount for your State Tax Refund reported on your 1099-G.

You don't need to attach a note, since you are filing separately for 2019 and the IRS will figure out what is going on.

It may not make any difference in your tax return anyway, unless you are Itemizing Deductions.
