2020 1099-NEC Error

This is my first year receiving a 1099-NEC. When filling out the information on TurboTax, I entered box 6 (the state number) exactly as it is on the form. I received an error saying this number must be 14 characters long. The number on my form is only 8 characters. Without correcting this error, it will not allow me to e-file. I really don't want to print and mail in. Does anyone know how to work around this? Or do I in fact have the wrong number? If that's the case, how do I go about getting the correct state number?

Thanks!

If you did not have any State Tax Withheld (Box 5), you can leave Boxes 5, 6, and 7 blank in TurboTax.

If you did pay State Tax, and the State Identification Number does not have enough digits, try entering the Federal Identification Number in this field.

Make sure you are entering your 1099-NEC as Business Income on Schedule C.  Type 'schedule c' in the Search area, then click on 'Jump to schedule c' to go to the Business area.
