2024 Federal Tax Return 1099-R Disaster Withdrawal TurboTax won't let me file yet. WHY? WHEN?

My spouse and I both took Emergency withdrawals from our retirement plans (not Roth IRA) in 2024 electing for the IRS to take out Federal Taxes at that time.  FEMA declared our area as an effected/qualified area of Hurricane Milton.  We received our 1099-Rs and entered them into TurboTax.  When I got to the screen where it asks if this was as a result of Disaster Relief for 2024 I checked the 'Yes' choice.  TurboTax then stated that we could not file yet because they are awaiting an update that could save us more on our return.  When will this update be completed so we can file and receive our Tax Refund?

When you do the review and it comes up with the message saying “we can’t file your taxes just yet” - right underneath that is a box that is checked that says QD 2024. Uncheck that box. And it will let you finish up. When I scrolled down to the other form below that has the circles next to 2023 and 2024, it will still show that 2024 is selected, which indicates they are still getting the accurate information that the distribution year was 2024, not 2023.

This is scheduled to be resolved by the end of this week.

Please use this tool to look up when your individual tax forms will be available in TurboTax.  Select your TurboTax product, "1040 Individual", "Federal", and "8915".

Please see When will my individual tax forms be available in TurboTax? for additional details.

Form 8915 is now available. Yet we are still getting the error message  "You'll need to revisit this area "

Same thing here with me today. This is extremely frustrating. If I uncheck that it is a 2024 qualifying disaster, Turbo Tax allows me to get to the part where I can file my taxes. However, doing so is inaccurate and I'd be potentially selling myself short on my refund.  I'm at a loss of how to proceed.

Any update when this will be available.

No update as of 2/13/2025. Frustrating to say the least.

Did you check the comment above by DanaB27? Should be able to file on Feb 20, if it’s accurate.

Same roadblock as of 2/21/25. This is so wild how we're left hanging on this.

This is beyond unacceptable at this point. Likely my last year using this product.

I agree, never again!! If they are not available by March 1, 2025 I will file my taxes elsewhere!!

I've been trying unsuccessfully for over a month. I also tried the work around of unchecking a box and it just keeps bumping me back to that page to resolve it. I desperately need to finalize my tax return.

I completed  my Federal & State forms today all the way to payment and signoff. When I did the final submit, I got the response that the Disaster Relief forms weren't ready yet so they could not be submitted!

This has been going on for months now. Who are we waiting on: Federal IRS, State(s), or TurboTax? Do I need to call my Congressman's office and complain for help?

@juliea5773 crazy right? Intuit dropping the ball here and seems like they’ve been doing this for years with this same issue. I basically did what @MamaK17 suggested and was able to e-file. @MamaK17 thanks for the fix. Return has been accepted but not approved yet so Jury is still out on if it will but hey if I have to file an amended will do so.
