    It depends on what type of 1099- if you had self-employment income, you would have to file to pay the self- employment tax.  If it is other income, you would not have to file a return.

    It depends on the type of Form 1099 you are referring to, there are almost two dozen different types.

    Is this a SSA-1099, 1099-R, 1099-MISC, 1099-NEC, 1099-B, etc.
