Question

After I filled it says I owe $3 but it didn't tell me what I was getting back in my return. Can someone help me with this?

If you have taxes owed you are not receiving a tax refund.

It cannot be both--at least not the same tax return.   If you owe tax to the IRS the tax due will be on line 37 of your Form 1040.   If you have an amount there, you are not getting a federal refund.   Federal refunds are shown on line 35a.   It is not possible to have an amount on line 35a and another amount on line 37.

It is possible to get a federal refund and owe the state, or vice versa.  We cannot see your screen or your tax returns.  Did you also prepare a state return?   There should be a summary that tells you what you owe the IRS or the state, or how much your refund will be.

If you have federal tax due you can pay by mailing your payment with the 1040V voucher, (which has the address printed on it, having the payment taken out of a designated bank account, or you can pay directly on the IRS website.

You must pay your state tax due using the state’s preferred method of receiving payment.  For most states that will be by making a payment to the state’s own tax website, or by mailing a check or money order.
