Question

AGI

My tax return was rejected because it said that my AGI was wrong.   I checked line #11 in my 2021 Tax filing and used that number.  This happened in the past with TurboTax.  How do I file if, following your program directions, the Government will not accept what I have submitted?

In my opinion, I think the issue is that you put 2021 AGI into your TY 2022 return.  AGI should automatically be calculated by the program.  Essentially it is Gross Income - Allowed Deductions.  By you inserting the number from TY 2021 you overwrote the calculation and really would be inaccurate unless you made exactly the same amount and had exactly the same deductions.  That latter is very unlikely.  Let the program calculate the AGI as it should.  Hope that helps!

@Sacerdos65  ENTER 0 FOR AGI. The IRS took a long time last year to process 2021 returns so the AGI didn't get entered in time.  Especially if you mailed it.  That works for most people. See,

If you can’t get it to efile you will have to print and mail it.

Be sure to attach copies of your W2s and any 1099s that have withholding on them.  You have to mail federal and state in separate envelopes because they go to different places.  Get a tracking number from the post office when you mail them for proof of filing.
