TurboTax Free Edition is for filers that use a simple 1040 with no additional schedules and is free as long as you don't select any add-ons or upgrades. You can 
Review your fees to see exactly what you have been charged for.

In addition to some restriction for filing form Like "1040 simple filing" ONLY low income filers qualify for free filing.
