Question

Allow 2FA Usage with only Authenticator

Currently, for an account secured with Two-factor authentication (2FA), there is no way to prevent someone from requesting an access code via the verified phone number linked to the account. Even if an authenticator has been added to the account, and even if the authenticator is set to the primary 2FA method, someone can always request an access code via the verified phone number.

Given the increase in SIM swapping/hacking attacks, and given the sensitive nature of information included in TurboTax, users should have the option of enabling 2FA with only an authenticator to prevent unauthorized access via a SIM swap/hack.

Well, calling TurboTax for support on things like this seems to be a vain effort. You just wind up in circular conversations with AI that seems perpetually confused. So this is probably not  the right place. But I can't find the right place.

I have a simpler question rather than feedback and after an hour of that and circling around the site here, maybe someone could answer: I signed up for 2fa by authenticator app. Didn't copy down all my emergency backup codes. There seems to be no way to generate them again. Is there?
