Amended my 2021 return to include a 1099-G, why SO much less on my federal adjusted refund ??

Forgot to include this 1099G because it came electronically not on paper... my adjusted federal refund went down by about $3000. Seems like a lot when my unemployment benefits were less than $8000?! Can TurboTax help me calculate the exact taxes owed on my 2021 unemployment benefits?

Unemployment is fully taxable on a 2021 federal tax return----unlike 2020 when they made the first $10,200 of unemployment tax-free on your 2020 return.   They did not extend that tax waiver, so all of your unemployment is taxable on your federal return---and maybe on your state return -- for 2021.   If you did not have any tax withheld from your unemployment, the hit is more painful now.   When you added the unemployment it might have also affected other credits on your return.   We cannot see your return or your screen.

Thank you! This makes sense...  I only wish there was some way to go back and see how dollar for dollar the adjustments were made via TurboTax

Were you getting earned income credit on your original return?   Your increased AGI may have affected that credit.  Look at line 27a of your original return.
