My daughter is 22 graduated from college in May 2024. She is employed. On her W 2 she marked can’t be a dependent. We did pay for her college tuition. She amended her status , it has been accepted. However our return keeps getting rejected . What are the steps to fix this?

I'm not sure you can do anything to fix this situation, outside of waiting a few weeks to e-file your tax return.

I think you mean your daughter originally filed her tax return and did not indicate that she could be a dependent. Then she amended it to correct that. Now your tax return is being rejected because you are claiming her as your dependent, even though she filed an amended return to correct that. If so, it may take some time for that to be reflected in the IRS database, so you may have to wait a month or so and try to e-file your return at that time. If that doesn't work, you will need to mail your tax return in.
