Amended Return and Stimulus Payment

My son, when he filed his return earlier this year, marked the box as being able to be claimed as a dependent, which he no longer is, not since going into the Army.  He corrected this by filing an Admended Return, which has now been processed and finalized (he just got his IRS check for the remaining of his tax return), my question is, what does he need to do to get the Stimulus Payment for COVID?  Will he have to wait until he files his 2020 taxes and get it that way, or is there something else he needs to do?

If he doesn’t get it on the basis of his amended return he can get it when he files his 2020 return.

Well do to the COVID delays in processing paper returns, he just got his check from his amendment filing, so that means that they just finished processing his paper return within the last month.  Guess he will have to wait until he files his taxes this next year.
