Question

Amendment to add dependent and efile amendment ?

My daughter filed her return without indicating parent can claim her as dependent. (She is going to file amendment. )

If I efile my return without claiming my daughter as dependent now and wait for several months and amend my return to add my daughter as dependent and efile my amendment.  Will that work?

    To the best of my knowledge that will not work.

    Once the IRS has received a tax return then it will always reject another tax return with the same Social Security and Name for the same tax year.

    Thanks for your reply. My return is more than 200 pages. If I print and mail, will that be excessive?

    No, should not be excessive.  I imagine the IRS has received tax return much larger than 200 pages.
