Applying for ITIN with expired Visa but valid Student Status

I am planning to apply for ITIN. I have a valid F1 status as a student on an official I-797A document from Homeland security but my H1/B1 visa in my passport which I entered the country with expired in 2018. I changed the status while I was inside the USA and my F1 status is valid until the duration of studies which is 10/01/2021. While filling W7 form shall I mention expired Visa or leave it blank? Would my expired H1/B1 visa be an issue in getting ITIN approved?

This is an income tax forum which doesn't address ITIN & visa issues :

How do I renew my ITIN?

To renew your ITIN, use IRS Form W-7.

Read the instructions carefully and follow them exactly. You will need to assemble several supporting documents.

    Form W-7 cannot be e-filed.

The IRS offers these ways to submit it:

By mail  or private delivery service (addresses for each are on page 5 of the instructions) In person through a Certified Acceptance Agent In person by appointment at an IRS Taxpayer Assistance Center (call 844-545-5650 to schedule)
