Are the wages on my 1040 and W-2 supposed to be different?

The wages shown on my 1040 are higher than the ones shown on my W-2.

review the entries you made for the w-2  box 1 should be what you see on 1040. of course, if you have multiple w-2's it's the total.

Thank you Mike. I only have one W-2. I checked the entries and my 1040, but the amounts do not match? Why could that be? Thank you

Do you have any letters by line 1?

SCH by 1040 line 1Wages  is  taxable scholarship income and the amount

HSH is for Household Help

DCB means Dependent Care Benefit

 

Or do you have any 1099R forms with code 3 in box 7?

 

Or try deleting the W2 and re add it.  That may clear something out.
