The state of Hawaii began a new process in 2017 that now requires a 12 digit business ID number. The ID's were supposed to be mailed to you last year. If you did not get the mailer, you can contact taxpayer services in the link below.

You can also look up the new one here https://hitax.hawaii.gov/_/   Just enter the old ID you have, Taxpayer name as listed on the license, and DBA name as listed on the license, then click search.

I do not understand. I applied for a EIN Today 2020 and i still received a 9 digit code instead of a 12. i used the link provided and input my 9 digit into the username but does not provide me my 12 digit number to file my taxes.

For anyone trying to solve this still:

When you create your LLC you still receive a 9 digit EIN (even now in 2024, 7 years after the rule change.)  The way to get your 12 digit number is by registering the business on Hawaii tax online using a BB-1 Form. Hope this helps

To register a Hawaii business and be issued a Hawaii business ID number, visit this Hawaii webpage to submit an online application. The Hawaii Department of Taxation can also be reached by telephone.

Hawaii Tax Online has a wealth of useful information and links for taxpayers.

See this Forms Availability Tool for information on what forms are supported by TurboTax for both Federal and State returns.
