Question

Because I paid into a retirement account at work, Turbo Tax is making me pay $69 instead of being able to use the free file. Is there anything I can do to reverse this?

The additional refund is only $3, yet I am being forced to pay $69 to file with Turbo Tax.

You can tell the software you were a student to trick it into disallowing the saver credit to avoid the upgrade.  You might have to clear and start over to do that.

If you have not registered, paid or e-filed you can clear and start over in a lower version of the software.

Or...keep your saver credit by using other software.

-Use this IRS site for other ways to file for free.  There are 8  free software versions available from the IRS Free File site
