Question

Bogus carryover of State Estimated Taxes

I have double and triple checked the estimated Federal and State tax entry, yet the State for some reason shows that I paid $1909 more than I did.

I found this after going thru the CA section titled "Here's the income that Ca handles differently."  After selecting "Done with Adjustments" I get a page stating, "Take a Look at California credits and taxes."  Directly below that in a shaded blue box is a statement that says "Estimated Tax Payments." and to the right is a value that is $1909 more than I paid.

What am I missing? I thought maybe because Ca only has estimated taxes paid 3 times vice 4 its pulling in a bogus value?  But I filled in the 4th period with zero $s to no avail.

And yes, this puts me at a dead stop for filing and politely paying the Feds and the State lotsa money. LOL.

Please delete this post or ignore it. I looked further and found that I had overpaid last year and applied the overage to this year taxes. Not sure that  TT's use of "estimated tax" is the best term or where to place it, especially since the Franchise Tax Board shows it as "Other Payment/Credit."  Maybe it is listed as a credit somewhere in the program and I haven't found it yet.

Found the overage in the Tax Payments Worksheet, line 6, Overpayments applied to 2024.  Sorry folks, it's late and time for bed. Hope this helps someone else.
