Question

Box 12, DD reducing refund

I have just started my return, and when I entered my first W-2, the refund initially was listed as roughly $22,000.  Then I entered $20,000 into Box 12, item DD (cost of employer-sponsored health coverage), and it reduced my refund by exactly that amount.  So now my refund is roughly $2,000.  I tested this by entering different amounts with DD, and no matter what the amount, it reduces the refund by that amount.

That has never happened to me before, even though I've always had some amount to enter into DD.

When I read online, it says the cost of employer-sponsored health coverage should not impact taxes, or refunds.

Anyone have an idea??

Thanks!

Box 12 code DD should have no impact on the return ... it is informational only.  Delete the W-2 and reenter it again and see what happens.
