Question

Box 20 on my w-2 is empty, however turbo tax is not allowing me to continue with box 20 empty. Any solutions?

Do you have entries in boxes 18 and 19? If so, enter in Box 20 the name of the locality that boxes 18 and 20 apply to (often a municipality, but could be a county or a school district).

If you don't know what locality Boxes 18-20 refer to, call your employer and ask them why they made entries there.

Local tax is rare. But some employers put unrelated information in boxes 18-20 when they should be left blank .

Unless you really do have a local tax then leave them blank.
