Can I claim my college age daughter as a dependent if she files taxes?

She made more than $4500 but we still pay her basic living expenses, she is paying for college.

It depends on her age at the end of 2016.

If your daughter is under 24 at the end of 2016 and a full-time student, you can claim her as a dependent if you provided more than half of her support, regardless of her income. You can also claim her education expenses (on form 1098-T) even she paid the tuition. She will file her own tax return and indicate that she is being claimed as a dependent in the Personal Info section of TurboTax.

If she is 24 or older, you cannot claim her as a dependent. She will file her own tax return and claim her education expenses.

No. Only the parent claiming the student as a dependent can claim her education expenses.

My 23 yr old daughter & 2 yr old grandson live with us. She is not a student . Can I still claim her?
