Can I claim single if I was divorced 3 years ago?

Divorced is not a filing status on a tax return.  The software asks if you are married or divorced etc to lead to other pertinent questions.  If you do not have a qualified dependent then you file as Single if you are not married.

Yes, if you have not remarried then your filing status is Single.
