Yes, you can help a friend with completing a tax return.

If you are using TurboTax Online, create a new account for your friend. TurboTax Online allows you to prepare and e-file one federal and up to five associated state returns under the same login. Caution, if you use your account for a second return, your current year tax return information will be lost, a new account is recommended.
If you are using TurboTax Desktop/CD software, you are able to e-file up 5 federal tax returns. For returns with multiple states, you can e-file up to three states per federal return.

If you are using the online version of Turbotax you have to set up and use a separate account for the second return. The taxpayer, your friend, is the only one who can legally transmit the return.

If you are using a downloaded version of the program you can create a second file.
