Question

Can I efile with the Deluxe online version, and send in a paper Schedule D and F8949 since I have only one transaction to report and it's zero net gain?

The one transaction was the redemption of a short-term CD, so the basis and sales price are equal, i.e., no gain and no loss. I'm already reporting the interest on the CD.

If you want to do that ,

you have to attach Schedule D and Form 8949 to Form 1040-X

Forns are available in fillable PDF format from the IRS website.

 

Note: when you are not changing any dollar amounts on your amending 1040-X, you can leave all the lines 1-23 EMPTY.

 

Do not include your old 1040 nor your revised 1040 because they are identical
