Can I file and pay federal and state returns on the weekend?

Yes you can.   The 2020 filing deadline is Monday, May 17, 2021---unless you are in TX---folks in TX have until June 15 due to the winter storm.   Some  words of caution---waiting until the last minute to file is not a great idea.  If anything goes wrong and you are unable to transmit your return or it gets rejected etc.--- bring up against the deadline makes it even more stressful. Give yourself enough room to breathe.
