Can I file my CA state return only, without filing my federal return, using TurboTax?

I have already filed my federal return using free IRS.gov software.

If you already filed federal somewhere else, you cannot use TT now for only a state return.   The information flows from federal to state.

 

Try going to your state's tax site to see if you can prepare it there.   You will need information from the federal return you filed.
