Can I file my state taxes separate at a later date with turbo tax after I already filed my federal with them

That depends on the state return that you need to file.

Arkansas does not allow you to file their state return at a later date, it must be filed with the federal return.

All the other states will allow you to file your state return later, as long as you do it in the same account that you used for your federal tax return.

To do your state later:
   1. Log back into your Turbo Tax account.
   2. Look for 2019 on the first page.
   3. Click Add State.
   4. Select the state that you need to do and answer all of the questions in the section.
