Yes. You should file taxes for unemployment because the federal government taxes unemployment. Your 1099-G is reported to IRS so they will be looking for a tax return.


If you did not get a third stimulus payment, TurboTax will add that to your tax return as a Recovery Rebate Credit.


Not all states tax unemployment, so you may be able to file state.
