Can I go ahead and file taxes with just my W2 even though I haven't received my 1099?

what type of 1099?  there's a threshold which if the amount is less, is not required to be filed with the IRS or sent to you  - $10 for interest and dividends $600 for other payments.  if it needed to be issued you should have recieved it by now.  contact the institution for a dupliate or the amount.  even if one isn't filed you are required to include the amount on your return. if it has been sent to the IRS expect a notice if you don't include it on your return.
